About
This course is designed for staff working in healthcare & residential childcare settings who support children and young people with complex, co-occurring needs. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of co-morbidities, including mental health conditions, physical and neurodevelopmental needs, substance misuse, and behavioural challenges. The course explores the prevalence and risk factors associated with co-morbidities, their impact on development and well-being, and the importance of a holistic, trauma-informed, and child-centred approach. Learners will develop practical skills in assessment, early identification, care planning, multi-agency collaboration, and intervention strategies, while promoting resilience, positive identity, and safeguarding. Through this course, residential childcare staff will be equipped to recognise, understand, and respond effectively to the complex needs of children in care, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, Ofsted Quality Standards, and best-practice guidance.
