About
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the Quality Standards that underpin residential childcare provision in England, as outlined in the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015. Designed for residential childcare professionals, managers, and those working with looked-after children, the course ensures learners understand how to meet the legal and regulatory requirements set by the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Care Standards Act 2000, and Ofsted’s Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF). Participants will explore each of the 9 Quality Standards, focusing on how to apply them in day-to-day practice to deliver safe, supportive, and outcome-focused care. The course also covers the broader legal framework, including safeguarding responsibilities, leadership and management expectations, and the importance of personalised care planning. By the end of the course, learners will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of how to create nurturing, child-centred environments that promote children’s health, well-being, safety, education, and participation in decisions that affect them. Learning Outcomes: By completing this course, learners will: Understand the legal and regulatory framework governing residential childcare in England Gain detailed knowledge of each of the 9 Quality Standards and their practical application Learn how to safeguard and promote children’s welfare in line with national expectations Explore the role of leadership, staff development, and care planning in delivering high-quality care Build confidence in meeting Ofsted requirements and supporting inspection readiness
