About

This training course will provide childcare practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to apply PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and attachment theory in daily practice. Rooted in UK legislation, the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Ofsted guidance, and trauma-informed principles, this course explores how secure relationships are built and maintained, even with children who have experienced significant adversity. Adults will gain a deep understanding of attachment theory, trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and how these shape a child’s behaviour, emotions, and relationships. They will practise using PACE as a practical, therapeutic approach to build trust, support emotional regulation, and promote resilience. Through case studies and reflective practice, participants will develop strategies that meet both the Quality of Care and Positive Relationships Standards, ensuring their practice meets professional expectations while genuinely improving outcomes for children. By the end of the course, learners will be able to confidently apply PACE-informed strategies, work within the legal framework, and provide emotionally attuned care that supports healing, growth, and long-term wellbeing.
